The education mission of the Working Dog Center includes a focus on our next generation. We believe it is a mutually beneficial endeavor to expose today’s kids to the amazing talents of various workings dogs and begin to build ties and a sense of community for those who will follow us.

There are four opportunities for this summer’s Canine Handler Academy (CHA) including two Advanced session for those who attended last year or will attend multiple session this year. CHA is open to 7th, 8th and soon-to-be 9th graders.

Sessions will be offered:
July 11-15, 2016 – Beginner
July 18-22, 2016 – Beginner
July 25-29, 2016 – Advanced Topic: Urban Search and Rescue
July 1-August 5, 2016 – Advanced Topic: Exploring Canine Careers

Each student will have the opportunity to experience first hand what it takes to train the detection dogs that serve our country. In the wake of the recent events in Boston, this is an excellent opportunity to help expose the next generation to ways they can be involved in their communities ensuring that we continue to have safe and enjoyable places to live and work.
